Same Message Two Ways

It is told, that once Hárúm ar-Rashid dreamed that all his teeth had fallen out.

A soothsayer was summoned. He interpreted the caliph's dream this way, 'All the children, grandchildren and relatives of the caliph will first die and then the caliph will die himself.'

Hárúm ar-Rashid became very sad and disturbed. He ordered the soothsayer to be imprisoned. Then he asked if there were any other soothsayers.

The answer was affirmative and another one was brought to him. The caliph asked the new soothsayer to interpret the dream.

This soothsayer said, 'This dream indicates that his Excellency and caliph will have a longer life than others.

Hárúm ar-Rashid became happy and amply rewarded the soothsayer.

Teaching must be carried out with tact and in a agreeable manner.
